Oh joy. SageMath (running on wsl) now opens plots correctly. Here is an
example from the sage tutorial:
t = var('t')
P = parametric_plot((cos(2*t) + 2*cos(t), 4*cos(t) - cos(2*t) ),
(t, 0, 2*pi), rgbcolor=hue(0.9))
show(P)
The show(P) statements opens a viewer window. Hurray!
