I don't have the problem anymore!?
I don't understand why.
I can use any combination of case for "a" and "dat" in 3709a.dat in
the ldr file.
LDView have no problem with this (Kubuntu 8.04).

ps
I just found the .leocad file. That would be the place instead of
using environment variables, wouldn't it?
