I removed it from the 'Tools' toolbar because it didn't fit in with the other buttons there, they are all the different tools you can switch to and Zoom Extents is an action you click once.
I also find it very useful and want to put it back in another toolbar but I can't find a good place for it since it's not related to any other buttons. There are a few other similar camera functions I can add but I don't want to add a toolbar with 3-4 buttons either. You can still access it from the 'View' menu (not as convenient) or assign a keyboard shortcut.
