What about double-click on a part opens the model it belongs to? The highest-level one, with other double-click needed to finally select only the part. I was looking at the Tower Bridge MPD: lots of embedded sub- models. I got attracted to the vertical plates in the fences on the upper beams (or whatever they are called) and wanted to see how they were fixed (for the curious ones: it happens to be half-pins with the stud end connected to the plate and the pin end going through the fence and connected to a thin beam; not possible in LDD ;o).
