Yes. In fact, I would actually say that the GTK build
is *VERY* usable, and actually fairly tolerable! I
highly recommend trying out Netscape Beta 1, or the
upcoming Mozilla M16.

The Motif GUI parts have not been removed. They are
still there, but just in a very bad state of bitrot.

The GTK stuff is the default version. However, it
doesn't really use any GTK widgets. The only thing
Mozilla uses GDK/GTK for is for low-level drawing
routines, and the event model.

That is why I think an Xlib port would be the BEST.

No, not necessarily. An Xlib port would simply mean
creating your own widgets, but Mozilla **HAS** its own
GFX widgets, so this wheel has ALREADY been
re-invented. Not only that, but Christopher Blizzard
of Red Hat ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) already has made a
raw Xlib port, and it actually WORKED, what's more.
And when it worked, it was actually FASTER than the
GTK port. The only problem with it is that he kind of
fell into a state of bitrot too, when he decided to
concentrate on the GTK port, since that is what the
commercial version of Netscape is currently based on.

For those who are interested, there have also been
attempts to do a Qt port and a Photon port. There are
ports to just about *ALL* of the major Unix toolkits
out there, and then some.
