With all due respect, CP, I think you dropped the
ball on this one: it's obvious that he's trying to
use mwm, but confusedly trying to work fvwm2 methods.

Yes, in .xsession, have entries that specify geometry
so that location is in the other desktops, the "far"
edge of the desktops being a multiple of your screen
width.  For example (for a display at 1152x876):

rxvt -name myconsole -geometry 96x52+64+0 &     # screen UL
nedit -geometry 96x52+1216+0 &                  # screen UR
xfrisk -geometry 800x600+64+940 localhost &     # screen LL
xmailtool -geometry 1024x768+1216+940 &         # screen LR
exec mwm

Whoops!  Well, CP, maybe you were right after all.
I take it back.  Sorry for blurting out before
reading it all.

Thomas, lesstif doesn't "start".  lesstif is libraries,
implementing the Motif API.
mwm "starts".  mwm is a window manager, as is fvwm2.
Which one are you using?
