The textf problem is a relatively simple problem.
Just need to add a NULL test before freeing GCs.

The fsb problems are related to chronic weaknesses in string handling
that have been there a long time. Some of the recent memory leak
fixes may tend to expose some of these existing flaws. I think
it similar to to following issue in MessageB.
