Ok, a short update on the situation: it seems like updating to libtool 1.3c/CVS fixes some or even all of the problems we have in adding depdendencies of the libs and executables. Drawback is that there is no officially released version of this level ... Another point: for Xlt we have a macro to check for libXpm. We perform a link check of an executable which succeeds if current LDFLAGS is being used (well, it does in the example I'm going to discuss :-) Then we are trying to link a library Xlt against libXpm which _fails_ since LDFLAGS is not used for building a shared lib. It now safe to add the LDFLAGS to the according XPM linker flags in the XPM macro in acinclude.m4?? This sounds to me like a shortcoming in the auto* tools, it woudl another link tests which simulates linking libraries? %-\ -- Alexander Mai [EMAIL PROTECTED]
