Well, for our purposes it would have been helpful to use the
new libtool. However it turned out that it is not a good idea to
focus on beta or "soon to be released"ware. We clearly list the
software that does work with our config sutff (being the latest
version of auto* and libtool*).
We will stay with the old tools until there are new _released_
versions which do work better.
