Subject: LessTif Release 0.92.32 is out
The LessTif Core Team is pleased to announce
Release 0.92.32
of the LessTif library!
This is a "PICO release", to be followed shortly by the first
major release of LessTif in 2001.
This is the first major release that works well with GNU Emacs.
Other highlights include bugfixes involving NEdit, improved
internationalisation (i18n) support, and a first implementation
of printing support (works with Xinvest).
As usual we fixed some bugs in the libraries and tried to further
improve the configuration and build process. We now use the latest
version of GNU libtool (1.4) which allows us to track dependencies
between the libraries. In addition we benefit from it's bugfixes
and extended support for various platforms. Also, the latest and
greatest versions of automake (1.4-p2) and autoconf (2.50) are used.
Check out the NOTES and ChangeLog files for details on what we have done!
The Xbae widget set now fully supports resizing rows and true color
displays. Other work on our companion libraries Xlt and Xbae is described
in their documentation.
About LessTif:
LessTif is a LGPL'd implementation of the OSF/Motif standard GUI toolkit
for X11. LessTif aims to be source compatible with the OSF/Motif versions 1.2
and 2.1. We're almost done with the 1.2 part, but we still lack
some substantial parts of the 2.1 functionality. (Actually
most 2.x applications do already build, but may not work properly yet.)
So at this point, almost all Motif 1.2 apps compile and run
out of the box with LessTif! The LessTif Core team is interested
in hearing about Motif applications which don't work with LessTif.
Bug reports are welcome; patches are even more welcome!
