Yes, it works here as well (SuSE Lx 7.2). *BUT* you have to make sure
that you really install the full line of autotools yourself, and don't
mix a /usr/local automake-1.5 with other /usr autotools from your OS
(even if they have the correct version number!). Otherwise you don't get
all the necessary aclocal stuff. I just learned this on SuSE 7.2.
Autotools version hell. ;-)
I use autotools myself for some packages, but sometimes I can understand
that some ppl want their imake back. ;-) The only trouble with imake was
that some major vendors shipped OSes with totally broken imake configs.
