Ok, think I got it:
those directories are symbolic links when I try to install in
the old location! The install program/code somehow
doesn't understand this.


We need a test release, not actually a 'release' perhaps, but
a tarball as of 'make dist' somewhere. Given this does work out
we need to check in configure and whatever else 'CVSMake'
currently generates.
