Ok, I figured out the disappearing text problem.
There was a recent change related to memory management in SelectionBox.c .
A side effect of that change is that the SB_ApplyLabelString got
a "" string assigned to it. (I'll remove that one now and leave the
rest of the code untouched.) Assigning "" breaks a check in FileSB.c
which looked for the default initialisation of XmUNSPECIFIED.
