[Lesstif] Lesstif configuration

I am a newbie to Linux.  I'm using Madraxe 8.2 with all developement tools 
loaded on install. I wanted to install DDD for debugging which requires 
Lesstif  lib.  I downloaded source lesstif-0.93.18.tar.gz.  Tried to 
configure it and got the message:
 no flex
 cannot find output form ${SHELL}
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
