i just switched from openmotif to lesstif-0.93.40 and discovered that
the X resource;
*fileFilterStyle: XmFILTER_HIDDEN_FILES
doesnt work anymore... well it at least partially works. I use 2 main
*tif applications, nedit and xmgrace. Xmgrace uses the more recent
motif-2.1 API and is therefore able to use a "show hidden files" button
in its file browser window, and works when "no hidden" is requested
(working only when i select the button in xmgrace, but not on startup...
ie when it reads the X resource).
nedit however just uses a standard file browser and show therefore pick
up the XmFILTER_HIDDEN_FILES variable regardless... but doesnt.
I think something is broken in the Lesstif code for picking up the X
resource, but i don't think the implementation is broken...
looking at the sources, it looks like lesstif is looking specifically
for the X resource:
XmNfileFilterStyle
so i set it as well.
when i run nedit, i get
"No type converter registered for 'String' to 'fileFilterStyle'
conversion."
maybe this points to the problem?
