Actually, I guess I meant having the "Private Incoming Account" pref set. I guess in this arrangement, the "Forward incoming mail to moderator" should also be set to avoid mail loops?

Obviously, it'd be nice to still be able to use the feature that replies saying that the user cannot post, without risking a mail loop.

Also, this all said, what does the "reply-to" header add, just a "reply-to" header of the list address? Or does it make the "reply-to" header the original poster's address?

One thing I do, either temporarily to stop a loop or more permanently is allow non-subscribers to post. If I am moderating I can toss stray posts, and also not get into an auto-responder trap. If I were to set restrictions on who should post, then it would be possible for a loop to be created.

And, with a moderated list I wouldn't expect the message to get a "can't post" message. It should just go to the moderator.

Problem is when a message is sent out, it's sent with a "from" address of the list address. If a subscriber has an autoresponder on, it replies to the list. The list then replies back to them they can't post. The autoresponder responds to the list again. Ad infinitum...

Do you turn on "reply-to" headers to make the reply address the original sender's address?

Any way to work some loop detection into LetterRip to keep this from happening?

Thanks for any help!
