Yes, I tested it ("first time for everything" I hear you all cry!).
However, my PC is fairly limited WRT hardware. My reading of the
RELEASE-NOTES/README is that things may change with kernels *newer* than
2.6.12-rc4, so current instructions (2.6.11.10) should be fine.
