 I don't think that's really an issue very much. Even if there are problems
 (such as building LFS 6.1 with a GCC4 host system) it's usually fixable
 just by finding a patch. The real problems are usually just specific host
 systems, not simply newer package versions. Besides, it doesn't seem
 realistic to expect the user to find a host system using package versions
 <= what's in the LFS book when LFS stable is over 8 months old (yes, I
 know 6.1.1 is newer than that, but most package versions are unchanged
 from 6.1). Adding a comment that hosts with newer versions than what's in
 the stable LFS book are not "supported" puts pressure on us not to let the
 current stable book get out of date (though that's probably not a bad
 thing...).
