#1938: LC_ALL=C causes bash testsuite failure and ugly "make menuconfig" output --------------------------------------------+------------------------------- Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: [email protected] Type: task | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: 6.3 Component: Book | Version: SVN Severity: normal | Resolution: Keywords: | --------------------------------------------+------------------------------- Changes (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):
* milestone: => 6.3 Comment: Well, 4.4 says: The LC_ALL variable controls the localization of certain programs, making their messages follow the conventions of a specified country. If the host system uses a version of Glibc older than 2.2.4, having LC_ALL set to something other than “POSIX” or “C” (during this chapter) may cause issues if you exit the chroot environment and wish to return later. Setting LC_ALL to “POSIX” or “C” (the two are equivalent) ensures that everything will work as expected in the chroot environment. iv: Host Requirements says: Glibc-2.2.5 So, the question now is, was glibc <= 2.2.4 the '''only''' reason that LC_ALL=POSIX is being used? If so, it looks like it can be removed. -- Ticket URL: <http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/ticket/1938#comment:1> LFS Trac <http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/> Linux From Scratch: Your Distro, Your Rules. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-book FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
