Alternatively, you could also add it for the Ch. 5 util-linux-ng and leave all the order alone. In fact, you could probably just use the really minimal hostname script Ken added in comment:10 since it's just to satisfy the perl and coreutils testsuites. Then you could use DJ's fully featured script in Ch. 6 util- linux-ng.
