Comment:

 It hasn't landed in trunk, mostly because no one else has commented on
 whether or not they agree. It has been in the jh branch for several months
 (and working wonderfully) and, before that, in DIY Linux for much longer.
 In the end, it's not the sort of thing that really brings radical changes
 to our methodology, it just tweaks the level of robustness. Given that no
 one has objected, I'll probably drop this in whenever I do more updates.
