I'm not sure I understand what is needed here. It appears that it is as easy as dropping the patch from the Vim installation in Chapter 6 and changing 'make' to 'make MANDIR=/usr/share/man' with the added explanation. If that is all it is, the change can be made very quickly and I'll be glad to do it.
