Cc'ing you in case you aren't subscribed.

First, I apologise for altering your description. I always find
trac incredibly awkward to use, and I thought I had clicked on the
reply button - which is why I deleted what I was not replying to.
I assumed the quoting which appeared online was because trac had
been upgraded to a newer version.

As to man pages, if people want to add extra pages to their own
systems I don't have any problem with that. But we aren't a regular
distro, and I don't see that anybody will willingly check additional
pages when a new version of a package is released, or update them as
necessary for added or removed options.

For checking other distros, I limit myself to what they do for build
instructions and patches, and only if I have a problem. For fedora,
it's usually straightforward to find their patches in cvs web, and to
read their specfiles. For debian, I have to download a .diff.gz,
then read through it to see if there is anything relevant. I do not
run anything except LFS and clfs.
