On this box with a KVM (which probably simulates a usb connection for
keyboard and mouse) and no hal in sight, I had to add

to xorg.conf with xorg-server-1.5.3, otherwise I have no keyboard and no
mouse although MagicSysRQ allowed me to umount and reboot.
