 My mistake, but we need to clarify.  /etc/modprobe.d/ is not used by the
 bootscripts for loading modules.  That's either done automatically or by
 /etc/sysconfig/modules.

 /etc/modprobe.d/ is used by the modprobe command and is still valid.
