Sorry for the lake of details. each time that a configure script is
involved. It seems that for configure script, the \ character is on a
second column. For all other type of command the \ character is just
separated by a space.
I face the case while building binutil in chapter 5.4 and while building
gcc in chapter 5.5. I have face no problem with any other script or
command. Each time it's only the section that involve the configure
script.
