I've proposed version 10 in
[http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/ticket/4262 #4262].
What isn't mentioned there is that version 10 includes backported features
from MySQL 5.6 and entirely new features not found anywhere else. Despite
being officially in beta status (alpha two releases ago), I personally
didn't have any problems with it and I've been using it on my Debian
production servers for over a year.
