Acceptable Kernel Versions/ Distros to host LFS 6.0 build?

I seem to remember starting an LFS 6.0 build on some version of Mandrake 
(10.0?) that had an early 2.6.(3?) kernel and having it tell me that the 
kernel version was not recent enough.  Recomendations on a good 
downloadable distro that will build 6.0?  I have MDK 10.1, SuSE 9.2, 
distccKNOPPIX-0.0.8, and KNOPPIX-3.7 at my disposal right now.  Thanks 
in advance for any and all suggestions.
