Thanks for the info. But after reading more on NPTL and linuxthreads, NPTL is the way to go. I like UML, but I think I'll wait until it supports NPTL. Thanks.

i'm not sure, but seems like building chapter 6 glibc with --enable-add-ons=linuxthreads instead of --enable-add-ons should work 4 u. (linuxthreads is distributed as a separate package now, it should be available in the same places where u download glibc from. its version should exactly match to the glibc version.)
