The original query was a valid query except, as has already been pointed
out, it ought to have been addressed here in lfs-chat rather than in
the support group. Your rant has even less place in lfs-support. You
are of course entitled to your opinions, but calling other people idiot
because your opinion is different is out of order. Remember that folks
are entitled to use their lfs systems for whatever they please, even
running winhose apps under wine if that's what takes their fancy.
Finally, since when does adding a packet manager turn lfs into a
distro? Rather than making unsubstantiated statements why not give us
your thoughts as to why you think packet managers are so evil?
FWIW I have no use for a packet manager. Updating happens by redoing the
entire system. I have absolutely no intention mucking about with
untested dependencies in my base system. The various packages that make
up an lfs system are tuned to each other. Installing new packets that
I'm unsure I'm going to be keeping happens with
--prefix=/somewhere-clean.
