hi community!

well, here's the question: could anyone suggest me a good text editor
for gui work?

in console i'm happy with midnight commander's built-in mcedit, but when
it runs in a terminal window in x, some operations (such as selection or
copying/pasting through x clipboard) are inconvenient. so i want
something like mcedit for gui work.

it should not be any of kde/gnome stuff since i hate all that
windoze-style bloatware and never use it. (gnustep rulez forever ;P)

currently i'm using nedit which is good and powerful, but it's look and
feel are really ugly (as for any motif/lesstif stuff).

mcedit has one feature that i like most of all: it's very easy to write
and add new syntax highlighting rules. this feature makes me absolutely
happy since i work with really uncommon programming language (csound, if
you are curious about that).
