also, are you sure you used the same version as the book's command
references? if you used a different version, then the directory name
will be different. both the binutils and gcc builds are done in a
{package}-build/ directory, so the configure command has to reference
the extracted source directory directly, rather than simply assuming
you are in the directory itself (as can be assumed by everything else)
