A 2.6.x kernel is necessary, not necessarily a 2.6.11 kernel.
Just to get the source of the packages out of the lfslivecd-x86-6.1-1.iso
If you have ISO9660 FS and the loop block device supported in your kernel, you can mount the iso to some directory:
mount lfslivecd-x86-6.1-1 /mnt/something -o loop Then you should see the sources in /mnt/something/sources.

I wouldn't ask if it wasn't possible. ;) That's what the BuildScipts are for. Although, it will just produce the same iso that you've already downloaded.
