Hmmm, I've never been sure about how to do this correctly. I tried
Googling, but no convincing solution to the problem turned up.


The following possibilities came to my mind:

1a) I reply to the original message in the thread (its subject line does
not have the leading "Re: "), and use the subject "New subject (was: Re:
Old subject)" for my reply.

1b) I reply to the original message in the thread (its subject line does
not have the leading "Re: "), and use the subject "New subject (was: Old
subject)" for my reply.

2a) I reply to a message further down in the thread (its subject line
starts with "Re: "), and use the subject "New subject (was: Re: Old
subject)" for my reply.

2b) I reply to a message further down in the thread (its subject line
starts with "Re: "), and use the subject "New subject (was: Old
subject)" for my reply.


Which alternatives are right/better? %-)
