hey folks, i think you all know it - the quest for the perfect hardware. modern hardware eats up enormous amounts of power, and for a box that runs nearly 24/7 this is really unsuitable. i need a nice, speedy, cool and quiet (seems to sound a bit impossible, doesn't it?) hacking-box and not a monster ;)
most hardware tests sadly don't cover low-power hardware; esr's 'ultimate linux box' is _extremly_ expensive (nearly 5,000$; the 'cheap' version is about 4,000$). i have an eye on amd's geode processor, but a couldn't find an appropriate board, except for the developement board. besides i don't know how it performs. furthermore i don't have experience with sata vs. scsi. thus, how is your experience with those technologies? what harware are you using? any suggestions? cheers, philipp -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-chat FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
