Hi All, I always use the following command to make my CDrom drives less noisy: $sudo hdparm -E 8 -k 1 /dev/hdd Password:
/dev/hdd: setting keep_settings to 1 (on) setting cdrom speed to 8 keepsettings = 1 (on) This works great, but when i load a new CD, my drive is once again noisy. Is there a way I can set the CD speed permanently? My versions: Kubuntu 7.04 $ uname -a Linux athlon 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Wed May 23 01:46:23 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux Best regards, and thanks for thinking with me, Cedric -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-chat FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
