And I don't think the original spirit has gone : LFS is still the project of choice for someone who wants to know what(s going on on his (or her) machine. Maybe this should be considered on the way to including a package manager in LFS. In my own opinion, nothing is better than the "filelist" script I discovered the first time I was worried about keeping tracks of files installed.
