He's lucky that I don't have control of code commits for glibc, I would have completely reverted the affected code and given him a 2 week suspension minimum for this kind of stupidity. Especially if the code actually converted ::1 into another entry for 127.0.0.1 and not returned entries for both 127.0.0.1 and ::1, which from what is described in the bug report what the modified code actually did/does.
