I don't know what you're talking about, but if udev notices buttons
(e.g. the power switch on the front of the case) it usually shows up
as /dev/input/event3 (or some other number). Xorg usually picks up any
buttons pressed and passes the event on to your window manager. It's up
to you to decide what you want your window manager to do with the
event.

For example, I have a remote control for my digital TV card, I can
configure the events detected in openbox, the window manager I use (the
exact details of configuring openbox are probably not relevant if you
use another window manager). Hope that helps.
