And there I was, thinking I could start the build of xulrunner and
go to bed. But, repeatably, it DOS's the box within a couple of
minutes of starting. This is with current LFS-svn as of a week ago,
and I've gone back to a 3.5.0 kernel because of issues I haven't yet
tried to bisect.

First time I might have been using make -j3, second time make -j1
(this is an intel i3, linux sees 4 CPUs). The first I knew was that
the icewm cpu activity window spiked up with green at its full height,
then dropped back, but with thin red traces ("lots of processes")
and the clock was mostly stopped. Thought it might have been one of
those things, so rebooted and retried - the same, but I noted that
from time to time a keypress or mouse move would result in some
activity - but only after a long delay.

For the third time, I made sure I had top open. As soon as the
problem started, I had about an extra 275 jobs (actual number 377 -
with the same number of terms, and top, I initially had 101 jobs on
an idle machine) and the build uses two scripts. And at least the
first 39 of those jobs were cc1plus (according to 'top' - the only
other thing that showed was top itself).

Anyone else seeing anything weird like this ? Any ideas ?
