Hi guys, Been busy here getting the network upgrades rolled out. The new work server is up and running and is being put through its paces. So far I'm happy with the connection. I just downloaded a kernel at the full 1.25 MB/sec (10 Mbit) available speed. The connection Belgarath (the LFS server) is with right now doesn't do more than half that speed anymore.
From a physical point of view, the new work server is about 1.7 ms away from the current LFS server. Same city, just a block or three away. Of course inbound to the server will follow a different path but I will be blown away if people notice a degradation in performance. So while I keep busy with these work rollouts, my LFS time will be limited and I'll pick up in probably a few days. The good thing about being away this time around is that it will impact LFS positively when all is said and done. A new server, better bandwidth, and a lower bill. All around not a bad deal, eh? :) I've got a request if you guys have a minute. I wouldn't mind seeing traceroute and ping comparisons to the current LFS server and the new one. Please send them to my directly and not this list, it'll just flood the list with useless data. traceroute and ping results for the following two IP addresses: current server: 216.171.238.83 new server: 72.29.236.37 Thanks, -- Gerard Beekmans /* If Linux doesn't have the solution, you have the wrong problem */ -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
