Hello,

Text wrapping is broken for multiline messages even on plain ASCII, as you can see on the attached screenshot (the problem with this bootscripts exiting unexpectedly is already fixed, but I am talking about wrong wrapping here, not the bad version of the autosshd bootscript). The line after the word "it" should not be broken.

The reason here is that boot_mesg doesn't interpret the "\n" pair of characters as an end of the line (it's just two letters for character counting), but passes that to echo -e. Possible solutions:

1) Disable text wrapping at all. It cannot deal with kernel messages and unexpected program output anyway.

2) Handle "\n" correctly in boot_mesg when constructing lines and counting characters.

3) Never pass "\n" to boot_mesg.

My vote goes for (1).

Interesting. boot_mesg() handled \n's before just fine when I created it with Nathan. I wonder what has changed. I would really like to see us keep wrapping (2 above). I usually run frame buffer consoles at 1024x768 or larger and hate it when a message comes up formated for a 80x25 console - ugh.
