That's 30 packages right there, Jim. And I've only installed a portion
of BLFS.

Instead of making points Randy, let me test things out. Yes some packages look for flex or bison, but is it actually required is a different story. I will be the first one admit, if my findings are in the favor of keeping flex. I will post the results when I get some. If you want to help, just give me the name of the packages that you found that require flex and I'll run a test on those specific packages on a system where flex is absent.
