Has this been sent upstream?
Probably, by Debian. That's where I got the fix from.
Has anyone else managed to find any archives of the bug-gawk mailing
list, which is where bug reports are supposed to be sent. At least
that's what README in the gawk-3.1.4 tarball says, and it even states:
"The advantage to using this address is that bug reports are archived at
GNU Central."
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnu-utils/
And what about online CVS access (ala viewcvs or
similar), or even instructions on how to download current sources using
the CVS client?
Unfortunately, only this (contains a link to a recent beta):
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnu-utils/2005-07/msg00084.html
http://www.skeeve.com/gawk-3.1.4m.tar.bz2
http://www.skeeve.com/gawk/ (guessed) gave me a 403 error, so I guess
that the latest sources are kept secret.
So I confirm that the Italian charset has been fixed, and that RedHat
patches that fix gawk-3.1.4 bugs give rejects (aka "upstream fixed this
differently").
The "manyfiles" test from the builtin testsuite fails.
The problem with UTF-8 recently reported on the lfs-dev (the testcase
used GPG_ERR_*) is no longer present.
