I've been doing it like this:

texi2dvi --pdf file.texi (could also just use texi2pdf)
texi2dvi file.texi
dvips -o file.ps file.texi
texi2html file.texi
makeinfo --plaintext file.texi >file.txt

This creates .pdf, .dvi, .ps, .html and txt files. Nothing required
expect for a tetex installation.
