LFS installs the daemon, LFS starts the daemon and provides a mechanism so that it is started and each boot. Folks that want to learn about Udev should have already discovered that knowledge when they installed it in LFS.
And everything is there for them to do that (now that there's some decent documentation installed with udev, and the LFS and distro rules files are decent examples too). So, is there even any need for BLFS to do anything? I'd say not, as long as LFS (if proceeding with this proposal) clearly states that further configuration will be required and points to the necessary documentation. BLFS may want to place gentle reminders in strategic places (e.g. ALSA), or simply add an FAQ that points them back to LFS. This way, folks have the choice (usually a good thing!) of whether to configure all their devices at one time, or to wait until they hit a particular package that needs udev config tweaks.
Thanks a lot for your input, Randy! Matt. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
