No, it is not the same driver, because the UDMA line is missing. My guess so far is:

1) If the relevant IDE chipset driver is present in the kernel, locking works. 2) If the generic IDE driver is used because the proper one is missing, locking doesn't work.

Of course I should have checked it before posting, but I have very little time now. A test would be to configure the relevant IDE chipset out of the kernel and see if locking breaks.
