Both the current `./configure --prefix="" --mandir=/usr/share/man` and the simpler `./configure --prefix=/` install files in the correct places. I'm not sufficiently motivated to actually change the book at the moment, nor do I want to see a flamewar on such trivialities. I will state, though, that my preference is for the --prefix=/ variation simply because it's less typing and uses a valid path. Yes, as previously mentioned, it does mean we get things like "//sbin/insmod" in our logs, but life's too short to really worry about such things.
