IMO it's not needed either. I've not updated the ticket with the results of my testing, but I can confirm that, like Archaic, the second version of the "wait for uevents" loop works well. Admittedly I only have USB devices to test with, but even /dev/hda4 fails to be created in time for it to be mounted as my swap filesystem.
DJ, do you want me to commit the necessary bootscript changes, or do you want to do that yourself?
Alexander, if you think that the /lib/udev/bug binary and related rules are still required I'll add them to the book on the understanding that it's only a temporary debugging tool and will be removed before release. Is Archaic's and my own testing enough, or do you think there is merit in adding it to the udev_update branch?
