Well, I tried to do that several months ago but Gerard refused it.

If I refused it, I don't remember doing so.

The only thing I would object to is to combined all appendices into one single appendix when it is rendered. I'm sure that this is not going to happen if the tags themselves that we use are not changed. The physical file locations can be in one directory. I don't have a problem with this and I don't see a drawback of that, either.

If somebody remembers when this discussion took place in the past and could remind me why I refused this, I'd like to know. Maybe I'm overlooking something right now than I thought of back then.

If not, let's just consider it a misunderstanding in the past and make the change now if it makes sense to make. What I really are about is the final rendering as people read the book. As long as that doesn't change and the order remains the same (unless we re-write index.xml and reorder the appendix entries, that's simply not going to happen, so nothing to worry about).
